Diatoms - Pinnularia

Another genus with a large number of species. Pinnularia are often large. Many species are found in abundance in slightly acid environments.This genus is also biraphid and thus motile.Pinnularia brauniana, virids and viridiformis are freshwater species.

Pinnularia, species undetermined. Found in diatomite deposit at Three Lakes, core TL5, at 3.6 to 3.7 m depth; also in core TL1 at 5.77, 5.95 and 5.99 m depth.

Specimens indeterminate between Pinnularia and Caloneis at 5.77 m depth, core TL1.

Pinnularia brauniana (?) and viridis at TL5 diatomite.

Pinnularia viridiformis or viridis at TL5 diatomite and TL1 5.77 m.
